Dear Coach:

It is a pleasure to extend to your track team an invitation to participate in the Twenty – Ninth Annual Keith S. Burgess Track and Field Invitational Meet to be held at Lake Forest High School on April 12^th, 2008 starting at 11:00 AM. Entries must be entered online at www.directathletics.com by April 9^th at 4 pm or sooner. Online entry is an attempt to make the entry seeding process easier for all concerned. Trials will not be held for the 300 meter hurdles or the 400 meter dash.

If you are interested in participating in the meet, get your acceptance and entry fee back as quickly as possible. We would appreciate hearing from you no later than Feb. 28, 2008. The first sixteen teams who respond and have paid their entry fee will be guaranteed to participate. If I do not have your payment before the meet, you will not participate. The entry fee for a team is $125.00 or $250.00 for your boys’ and girls’ teams. If a team does not want to supply an adult official, then include $30.00 for paying an official or $60.00 for 2 officials. Each team is to supply an official. If you have a boys’ and a girls’ team, then you need two officials.

Preliminary information regarding the meet is enclosed for your inspection. Other details will follow prior to the meet. If you have further questions call Mike Wagner at 284 – 9291 x 209.

Remember someone gets left out each year because the field fills up fast. Get your acceptance paperwork and check in as soon as possible. We will not hold spots for teams who come each year.

SUBJECT: Online entry for Keith S. Burgess Invitational

This year you will enter your athletes online with Direct Athletics. Please go to www.directathletics.com! Find and click on the KSB Track & Field Invitational then enter your athletes for the boys’ and girls’ teams. You may enter two people in each event and one relay team per school. When you enter a relay team, you only need to enter a seed time not the names of your relay team.

Online entries will begin on Wednesday, April 2^nd, 2008 and are due no later than Wednesday, April 9^th, 2008 by 4 PM. Remember to go to www.directathletics.com! If you have further questions, call me at school 284-9291 x 209.

KEITH S. BURGESS INVITATIONAL TRACK MEET

GENERAL INFORMATION

1. Date: Saturday, April 12^th, 2008.

Seeding must be entered online at www.directathletics.com April 9^th by 4 PM

Preliminaries start at 11:00 AM.

2. Officials: Each Men’s and Women’s team will be required to furnish one official per squad. If a team chooses to pay $30.00 for Lake Forest to hire an official, then the team will not need to furnish an official. Please designate on your form what your official would like to do. Please have the official report to the middle of the football field at 10:45 AM. No school will be allowed to participate until its’ official has reported. Each school should have at least one watch in its possession. Please do not request us to find an official on the day of the invitational for you because you do not have the official you said you would have.

3. All running events will be seeded. Two athletes per event and one relay team can represent your school.

4. A trophy will be awarded to first, second, and third place men’s and women’s teams. Medals will be awarded to the first three places in each event. Ribbons will be awarded to 4^th, 5^th, and 6^th place individual finishers. Team standings will be based on the first six places in the finals.

5. DIAA and National Federation rules will be in effect.

10. Gate admission fee will be $3.00 for all spectators.

11. No athlete will be allowed on the field when he/she is not competing. A violating school will be disqualified from all events on the track until its athletes are removed.

12. The concession stand will be open throughout the day for your convenience. A limited number of 28^th Annual KSB Inv. T-shirts will be on sale.

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION

Points toward the team standings will be scored for the first six places in the finals.
Medals will be awarded to the first three places in the finals with ribbons for fourth, fifth, and sixth places.
Trophies will be awarded to the first, second, and third place boys’ team and first, second, and third place girls’ team.
Each team will be required to furnish one adult official and one student helper. If a school does not want to supply an official for each of its squads, then the school can pay $30.00 to have an official hired or $60.00 if two officials need to be hired by Lake Forest.

All events which are contested at the State Track Meet for Delaware will be contested at the 29^th Annual Keith S. Burgess Track and Field Invitational Meet.
